Safe Blogging

1. The use of blogs is considered an extension of your classroom. It is important to make sure that speech remains appropriate not only in the classroom, but on the blogs. Be sure to review with your students beforehand what is/isn't appropriate to post on blogs.
2. "Blogs are about ideas" You can either agree or disagree with the idea, not the person. Use constructive criticism and be sure to read things carefully so that you don't take things the wrong way. Have an open mind to other peoples opinions.
3. Blogs are public so be careful with what you post. It is important to proofread the students work before they post it. You can't always take back what you say, especially when it's on the web.
4. Never post personal information. The most you should put is just your first name. This can be a huge safety concern especially among students. It is important to keep the children and their identities safe.

The Pedagogy of Blogs

I think it's great what these teachers are doing with their classes. They are teaching them how to use the internet for things such as blogs, podcasts, and so many other things that will be beneficial to them as they go on throughout life. While using blogs teachers have them write about other things, they work on projects or reply to class discussions. Mr. Crosby's class had different topics to write about, he also uses the blog to have the students work on things for class such as practice tests and personal narratives. The 2M Gem class posted videos and pictures of things that they've done in class. It is also a great way for their parents to keep updated on the things their kids are doing in school. Some of these blogs also asked for input from other people. I think it's great that teachers can use blogs to keep the children thinking and make learning fun for them.

Batike

This was a lot of fun to make the Batike. I really enjoyed the outcome, it did bleed a little. I think this looks like the rose from Beauty & The Beast.

Age Appropriate Activity

My fourth grade lesson plan was creating positive and negative monsters during Halloween time. My project is age appropriate because I got my main idea out of the core curriculum so I know that it is an appropriate activity. The students use positive and negative space to create any kind of monster they want. They need to be able to identify positive and negative space and use it correctly. They will be able to this by the end of the activity after being shown examples and looking at their own creations. This is something that needs to be taught in fourth grade.

Map of My Life

This is a map of my life. It shows major events starting from birth to present time. Events such as where I was born, starting school, graduating from hight school, college, and my feelings about each event.
